I can offer an organized course about Israel and Palestine, taking wishes and qualifications into account.
The teaching can be held in Danish or English as required.
Having friends on both sides of the conflict, I have witnessed the situation in a different way than if I had read the newspaper or turned on the television.
After having written a novel (published in June 2017) dealing with the Israeli / Palestinian conflict, I would like to share and exchange information and details, that I have encountered when doing research. Despite the fact that the novel is fictional, it is based on true events.
The offer of organized courses is primarily addressed the primary and secondary schools, and is based on my personal meeting with Israel and Palestine. I have become aware of a number of issues that are common to most conflicts, which I have subsequently tried to get in depth with.
Standing face to face with people to whom such a complex conflict is everyday life, has made a huge impression on me, as it has challenged my perception and understanding of the situation and living conditions that occur on both sides of the wall.
In addition to incorporate a personal story, the teaching attempts to highlight key issues in the conflict as well as for conflicts in general.
The teaching will be based on topics from the novel
"Love your enemy?"
Exercises can consist of discussion rounds with predetermined roles, empathy through storytelling etc.
Besides being based on personal experiences, the course will focus on following topics:
1. Why is this conflict worth knowing about?
2. What makes the situation so complicated?
3. Should we take side and can we?
4. Is there a prospect of peace?
Some key issues related to the situation in Israel and Palestine:
The Wall & Checkpoints
Palestinian right of return (refugee problem)
Military service in IDF (Israel Defense Forces)
The fight for victimhood
Recognition of the State of Israel
The occupation of the Palestinian territories
The right to the land
